Today: Melanie and the kids were here for lunch. Sloppy joes on homemade rolls -- the boys' favorites. So many laughs. The kids are all reading books this summer, and I love to hear about them. Landon finished "The Boxcar Children" -- a favorite of mine at his age. I wanted to live in a boxcar!
At my writing desk: Traded cooking and some house cleaning for writing. Tomorrow is another day. It all gets done eventually.
Praying for: James Pinkerton and his family. He has been through so many physical issues and received more bad news this week.
Thankful for: Daughters and where they live. I'm aware not everyone can have theirs close by, so I'm especially thankful to God for allowing my sweet girls to live ten minutes away.
I'm reading: Reading "The Widow of Larkspur Inn" for my book club. I'm not a big novel reader, but this club is pushing me to read them. Once I get into them I'm okay, but it takes me a while to shut off my mind. I downloaded a sample: "Broken Hallelujahs: Learning to Grieve the Big and Small Losses of Life." Love the title!

Sloppy Joes are a favorite here in our house, too! They are so good.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. Our prayers are powerful.
ReplyDeleteLovely way to get to go a bit about what you have been up to - sounds like you had a lovely day. x
ReplyDeleteBoth of my kids live near me too. It's a huge blessing!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for the condition of my house, I trade cooking and housecleaning for writing.
ReplyDeleteSuch an uplifting quote. Our prayers can move mountains
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I had anything remotely similar to a good ol' sandwich. And being able to live so close to your daughters is a godsend luxury.
ReplyDeleteI love your quote and now I'm craving sloppy joe's. I'll have to add them to my grocery list. I'm going to check out The Widow of Larkspur Inn. I love a good book.
ReplyDeleteI like that quote. There are times that we became silent because the only person we can talk to is God.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I keep hoping for, to earn God's favor. I hope that everything that I do or most would earn HIS favor.
ReplyDelete"It's not luck, it's God's favor." -> Yassss!
ReplyDeleteI love the quotes you used today. Very inspiring and so very true. It is unbelievable what the power of prayer can do!
ReplyDeleteSloppy Joes are a favorite here. My kids would eat them every day if they could.
ReplyDeleteWhen you read tons of bad stuff from the news, your grateful & positive attitude are inspiring. It's a good change from what I see on the news.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so long since I had a Sloppy joe! Will keep James Pinkerton and his family in my prayers too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful quote to keep my day so refreshing. I very much agree that it is God's favor which keeps us going & not just luck. And coming to Sloppy joes, yes they are so much favorites here too!
ReplyDeleteAmazing quote. SOmetimes we forget why good things happen to us.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever actually had a sloppy Joe but they sound delicious - especially on homemade rolls!
ReplyDeleteThat first picture quote is immaculately brilliant. I love it. Your posts like this are always awesome and I enjoy reading them
ReplyDeleteI love your quotes, so uplifting! Indeed, the favors we receive are not due to luck, but because of grace :)
